The curriculum covers a number of key learning areas; social development, language and literacy, mathematical development, knowledge and understand, physical development, and create development. More over, children are able to develop their kinesthetic abilities through specially designed Montessori materials.
Classroom
The Montessori classroom is unique as every area is planned and prepared to meet the needs of the developing child. The classroom is a child-sized world, with chairs, tables and shelves in appropriate proportion.
Materials
The preparation of each Montessori environment includes the careful preparation of the Montessori developments materials appropriate to that environment. The Montessori materials are sets of objects, each set designed to exacting specifications.
Our Approach
Our Preschool programs are based on the principles of respect, responsibility and community through Montessori method, exploration and discovery. Our school is a unique space, incorporating aspects of the Montessori materials, nature and the outdoors in various sessions. Through our Montessori environment, children investigate, discover, inquire, solve problems and therefore, learn. Teachers organize space and materials that support the engagement of small groups and immerses children in play. These experiences help children build a connection with nature and develop key foundational skills, building a foundation for lifelong learning. IDM welcomes applications from parents and guardians who support our mission and are thereby interested in providing their children with the highest quality Montessori education delivered in an English environment. IDM admits students of any nationality, religious belief, and ethnic heritage.
Applications are accepted throughout the year; however, as class placement is based on the availability of places, we suggest you apply early. All Montessori programmes at IDM is conducted in English while the Malay Language and Chinese Language are taught in the 4, 5 and 6 years old classes.
